Weigh in: Places and stories

Suggest places and stories for our weekly series on Southland neighborhoods.

41. I loved the piece and the quoted messages. What a beautiful way to capture people's intimate thoughts. And, what a great idea for a series. I have a suggestion for a piece about El Segundo. How do I get it to you?

43. If you want an idea for a story, I suggest you visit Nuevo. It's hardly even a town. It doesn't even have a McDonald's or a Starbuck's. But in it is Nuview Bridge Early College High School, where kids from the surrounding area come and go to school. Exactly 298 students are enrolled right now, who must have a 2.0 GPA, and all of them, even freshmen, can take classes at the Riverside Community College in Moreno Valley. The school provides free transportation, and RCC only charges $26 for health and student services fees. I woud write more, but the site says it's too long. (489 characters?)

45. In re: your first article on Friday, February 8, Vincente Feliz was a corporal, not a colonel. The highest ranking Spanish officer in Alta California at the time was lieutenant Ortega who was commander of the soldats who accompanied the Portola expedition in 1769. He was commandant of the Presidio in Santa Barbara in 1782.

47. This was a lovely article. The Alcove is a special place and deserves this warm writing. This piece was tender, local, and neighborhood-esque. This is what connects the LA Times to LA. Amazing work, Scott.

48. How ridiculous. The Alcove is hardly a secret. Most days, most hours, it's filled to capacity. For the record, I enjoyed this story. And I love Los Feliz.

49. Why is this news? How about you guys cover more west side eateries that are a hassle to get to instead of ruining the few cafes that are actally enjoyable in L.A. And you ruined a well known cafe secret. You guys are terrible.
