Weigh in: Places and stories

Suggest places and stories for our weekly series on Southland neighborhoods.

31. Compton. The city with the wriong reputation. Despite people hearing the negativity from rappers and the media. I would like to see a report about thr good side of Compton. I just moved to the city of Compton. At first, I was really scared because the reputation it has;however, I had never had any inccident ever since I moved in December 07. There numerous of educated inviduals in the city and wealthy and nice areas in Compton too. I bet no one knows about this. Neither did I until I found bought my house in Compton.

32. A post card story about the city of Maywood. A dense city that house about 60,000 people. Maywood is a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. Where it is ok to drive without a license. Where council budget for a newspaper that promotes nothing positive about the city. Citizens have been waiting for a new park to open, its completion date was a year ago. The council voted to lower impound fees and parking fines, yet they raised the sign up fee for kids sports at the local park by 100%. A place where council refer to citizens as "bullies." When doing the post car, make sure to interview the residents and kids of the community.

34. the part of this article that is disgusting is that "one afternoon a week" the kids can play safely in the park, the other 6 afternoons per week, its full of drug addicts, why can't the lapd get rid of them every day?

35. There is a blue late model car in the southwest corner of the Ralphs parking lot on Lake (on the corner of Walnut) in Pasadena. This car's license plate is WWIIVET and has an American flag flying from it's back seat passenger window. The car is there every day and night. What made this veteran choose this parking lot to be his neighborhood? How and why did the car, apparently, become his home? Does he have any family? These questions and more enter my mind each time I pull in to park in the lot to do my grocery shopping to take to my comfy, warm home.

36. I'd like to see a post card story about the city of Sun Valley. Its an interesting little city in the cornor of the Valley that leads into the city of Burbank on one side and Sunland on the other. Maybe a short history about it as " The Forgotten little city" that once could would be nice. Ya Think?

38. Pascal Olhats has been a chef in orange county for over twenty years. There is a wall space in the restaurant that is signed (with pictures alongside) of Paul Bocuse, Roger Verge, and Piere Troisgras - all Parisian, three star chefs and three of the most famous chefs of all time! Pascal calls it "his galaxy" becuase of there are so many stars attached to these great names. The restuarant has been remodeled and walls painted many times; however, the signatures are still proudly...and boldly scrawled on that back wall. Pascal is an NPB incon!

39. I would also like a piece done about Compton. As a new Compton resident their have been many positive changes being made in this community. It would be NICE for the LA Times to show some of th epositive sides of Compton, since the city has been associated with so much negativity. Most of the residents of the City of Compton are hard working law abiding people who would like their voices to be heard.
