The FIPRESCI Award for best foreign-language film went to Austria's "Revanche," directed by Gotz Spielman. This film is also on the Oscar nomination short-list.
Natar Ungalaaq received the FIPRESCI Award for best actor in the Canadian drama "The Necessities of Life."
The Romanian/French film, "Hooked," directed by Adrian Sitaru, was given the New Voices/New Visions Award. A special jury mention went to "Rain," from the Bahamas, and Amin Matalqa earned the John Schlesinger Award for outstanding first feature (narrative or documentary) for "Captain Abu Reed," a Jordanian-U.S. production.
