A Grammy scene Will Rogers would have loved

The Grammys are the strangest, most unwieldy and messiest of the big award shows, an affair that wants to be the Kennedy Center Honors and the Super Bowl halftime show at the same time. There was certainly no shortage of spectacle at the 52nd annual ceremony Sunday at Staples Center, from the 3-D tribute to Michael Jackson to Beyoncé transitioning from her "If I Were a Boy" to a down-on-all-fours, hair-whipping cover of Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know."
