1. That's hysterical. The only question is why would people go to all that trouble just to get someone to vote Republican or Democrat? Politicians don't really care anymore. All they want is votes. Honestly, I think if the politicians want the votes so badly, they should go bribe people in the streets for them. If Barrack Obama wants my vote, he personally should come to my front door and give me a check to cover my college tuition. I would be swayed by a gift, especially one that huge. Yes, I know, it's not smart and afterward, I might regret it, but hey, the man did pay for my college education!

2. Why is it you emphasize wealth as the motivation for repubs? Why not individual responsibility...capitalism...small government? Why not empahsize that on these same concerns dems line up on the other side? If your going to generalize that republicans are all about either being wealthy or becoming wealthy, why not generalize that most democrats of your cut promote socialistic NOT democratic principles and philosophies? How about some EQUAL time and objectivity?

3. I found your article hilarious. People take things too seriously a lot of times. Registering to vote and voting are 2 different things and there is no rule that says you cannot vote for the candidate you want when it matters! One's allegiance should be to one's self and one's family. Politicians lie and will continue to lie and why would anyone want to cast your lot with them? The time when politicians were public servants were long gone. There are probably a handful of politicians who still serve the public but, that is more the exception than the rule!

5. Relax, guys. It may be absurd, but they are just getting people to register to vote. No one forces you to vote either way in America. If you let your vote be swayed by a cookie or another gimmick, the briber isn't the bad guy, you are. People need to take responsibility for their vote and perform due diligence - otherwise an inexperienced freshman Senator from Illinois gets elected President.

6. I love it that you keep saying that the Republicans are the "party of the filthy rich" . Especially since the last several elections have shown that the Democratic Candidates are the ones with all the money. Does anyone think Al Gore was middle class? Or even Hillary Clinton(with 2 multi-million dollar mansions). Certainly John Kerry with all that Heinz money was not. Since Roosevelt the Democrats have done more to help the "filthy rich:" than the Republicans. Remember that before we voted in that all Democratic Congress, we had lower gas prices, lower unemployment, and lower food prices.

7. Newly arrived Hispanics from Mexico and Central America will confuse "democracy" and "democratic" with the "Democratic Party." That's how it is in their countries -- the Republicans ARE hurt by the name, since it doesn't conjure up grandiose ideals. "Bribing" voters with a cookie sounds silly, but people DO linger around food, especially after a long event. But Democrats are the ones who usually pander to Hispanics, offering "help" filling out ballots because they don't speak English (where are the Spanish ones? Anyway, it's a REQUIREMENT to answer q's in ENGLISH to become a citizen, so how do these people get to vote?)

8. The typical uneducated and ill-informed slimey attack on Rush, now expected of all LA Times so called writers. Rush's drug addiction stemmed from the same issues many people face, a problem with pain management that led to addiction. People like you Joel are reduced to making snide and incorrect comments about Rush because you don't have a clue how to debate him in the arena of ideas.

9. VOTING REPUBLICAN IS LIKE VOTING FOR HITLER OR THE GUY OWN OFFERED FREE TRIPS FROM AFRICA TO AMERICAN

10. Absolutely horrible... and the fact that Mr. Stein not only makes light of the issue (given the things he has made light of in his colums, I wouldn't be surprised to see this guy crack one-liners at a holocaust memorial) but actually PARTICIPATES in the disgusting process just adds to his short and inconsequential legacy of ignorance, frivolousness and stupidity.
