Martin / Watterson house front door
By Ann Summa and Jeff Spurrier

About four years ago, George Martin and Jim Watterson sold their 5,000-square-foot Spanish Colonial Revival home in Pasadena and downsized to a more modest midcentury home nearby. But on a trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, they stumbled across another piece of Spanish architecture for sale: Casa Capricho. The house, built in 1740, has since been carefully updated while maintaining the kind of indoor-outdoor living that so many Southern Californians seek. Inside, Martin and Watterson trucked down part of Watterson’s collection of religious art — amassed over 50 years.
