Adios, friendo. See you next Oscar season

The months-long Oscar pre-nomination process is essentially an act of narrowing down a field of aspiring hopefuls to a few strong candidates. You know how it goes. For there to be winners, there have to be at least a few losers. Many of those not nominated this year, like multiple-Oscar winner Tom Hanks, are top-shelf, grade-A Hollywood stars. Naturally, they will be back in the running for the accolades and red carpet glory in the next round.

So while we may now be saying “So long, and thank you for playing in 2007,” it’s pretty safe to say we’ll see them in an awards season down the line.
