FACT SHEET

Fact sheet: George Clooney

Film: "Syriana"

Born: May 6, 1961 (Lexington, Ky.)

Bio:
As nephew of jazz singer Rosemary Clooney and actor José Ferrer, and son of TV news anchor Nick Clooney, it's no understatement to say that George Clooney's showbiz roots run deep. But Clooney was no lock for movie or TV success when he began his career. After supporting roles in low-budget horror schlockers and TV pilot misfires, Clooney finally hit his stride with his role as Dr. Doug Ross on "ER." From there, movie stardom was just a couple of roles away. He sparked with Jennifer Lopez in "Out of Sight," then moved on to critical and box-office acclaim in such films as "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "Ocean's Eleven."
