Geoffrey Rush, best actor |
“Shine” (1996)
The lanky Australian received practically every major award imaginable for his glowing performance as pianist David Helfgott, who spent several years in mental institutions after suffering a breakdown. Helfgott tended to walk around just wearing an overcoat, so one gets the bum's Rush -- or Rush’s bum -- a few times.
Four years later, he went the full Monty ad nauseam for his daring Oscar-nominated best actor turn as the Marquis de Sade in “Quills.”
