Peter Bergman, 'The Young and the Restless'
Peter Bergman, 'The Young and the Restless'

Though not the originator of the role, Peter Bergman, formerly one half of "AMC" super-couple Cliff & Nina, has been filling the role of golden son Jack Abbott since 1989. With 15 nominations and three wins, Bergman is one of the most lauded actors in daytime.

This year saw Jack scheming against rival Victor Newman after Victor lost his memory, even gaining his support against wife Nikki in his run for state Senate. He was involved in a paternity mix-up with former love Phyllis and the eventual father of her baby Nick Newman, eventually uniting with Nick's ex Sharon and marrying her. The couple moved into the Abbott mansion after the death of Jack's father, the supremely kind and generous John Abbott, and have since been fighting for control of the mansion with John's last wife, Gloria Bardwell.

While at home playing the snake in the grass, Bergman is also adept at displaying Jack's humanity, as evidenced in the often touching scenes between Jack and John's ghost, where he is constantly dealing with letting his father down.
