2008 Emmy nominees

The original cable series about ad executives behaving badly in a pre-PC era garnered 16 Emmy nominations for its first season. Nods include best drama, outstanding directing (Alan Taylor), best actor (Jon Hamm) and best supporting actor (John Slattery). Befitting the sexist premise of the period series, the efforts of the hard-working women of "Mad Men" were overlooked.
