Oscar nominations 2012: The snubs

'Bridesmaids'
One of the year's biggest box office successes earned Oscar nominations for actress Melissa McCarthy and its star Kristin Wiig (as co-writer of the film's original screenplay), but despite an expanded best picture race, the comedy failed to place in the top category. Perhaps pooping in the sink is good enough for the acting categories, but Academy voters just couldn't see it as best picture. This is a particularly tough snub considering there were only nine nominated films for best picture out of a possible 10.

RED CARPET
Hard to believe the movie industry would not give its highest honors to the Harry Potter franchise. The final film and the entire franchise have been simply outstanding artistically in every single category. Highest quality acting, producing, screenwriting, amazing set designs, costumes, I don’t understand why Hollywood is so blind to something so obvious. 8 fantastic films, 8 incredible home runs – what other cinematic effort has achieved that?
