The making of an Oscar show, day one

Parton and other performers will sing live during the March 5 telecast — the Academy Awards does not permit lip-syncing — but a few days before their performance, they are asked to do a technical backup session in case something goes awry during the show. There will be more rehearsals at the Kodak Theatre once the stage is ready.
