Sid Ganis was elected to a fourth consecutive one-year term as president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the group announced Wednesday.
The 68-year-old Ganis, who has served as academy president since 2005, calls the job "a privilege." "It's a dynamic time for our organization and our art form," he said. "I'm incredibly proud to be part of it." He has produced films such as "Akeelah and the Bee," "Big Daddy" and "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo." He's also worked for Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Lucasfilm. Ganis has been a member of the film academy since 1968.
