Golden Globes race begins

Hollywood Foreign Press announces qualifying films for Golden Globe consideration.

With the Hollywood awards season rapidly approaching, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced today that 184 live-action feature films have qualified for consideration for Golden Globe nominations.

The films include 119 dramas and 65 comedies or musicals, according to the HFPA.

Also qualifying for consideration were 16 animated features, 124 television series --including 73 dramas and 51 comedies -- 38 miniseries and 56 foreign-language films.

Meanwhile, 88 songs have qualified in the category of best original song in a motion picture.

Nominations for the 64th annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced Dec. 14. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Jan. 15 at the Beverly Hilton.
