This awards season we can expect to see John Travolta get lots of recognition for his turn as sweet and heavy homemaker Edna Turnblad in director Adam Shankman's musical comedy "Hairspray."
The actor will be honored by the Hollywood Film Festival at the annual Hollywood Awards, where he'll receive the Hollywood Supporting Actor of the Year Award.
"We are honored that John Travolta will be the recipient of this year's Hollywood Supporting Actor of the Year Award. His superb performances in 'Hairspray' should be acknowledged and enjoyed by the established film industry as well as the public at large," the festival's executive director, Carlos de Abreu, said in a statement.
The festival runs Oct. 17-22.
