Steven Spielberg will be awarded the Cecile B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe Awards telecast for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field."

Voted on by the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the award was announced early Wednesday at a press conference by actor Josh Brolin.

Spielberg has previously received six Golden Globe awards, with 12 additional nominations. Last year the DeMille award went to Warren Beatty.

The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on January 13, 2008.
