The Screen Actors Guild has entered into an interim agreement with the Writers Guild of America to allow January's SAG awards show to be broadcast.
The agreement will allow the show to proceed uninterrupted by any picket lines or protests. SAG national executive director Doug Allen issued a statement applauding the WGA for its cooperation. "WGA's support for Screen Actors Guild and the SAG Awards – an event that pays tribute to the extraordinary work of actors and highlights the importance of the labor movement in the entertainment industry – is welcome recognition of the strong bond of solidarity between our two creative guilds," Allen said. "We're grateful to the WGA for working with us to accomplish this understanding and strongly support their efforts to get a fair contract. "We are proud to go forward, once again, with a WGA writer for the 14th Annual SAG Awards ceremony." The awards show is to be broadcast on TBS from the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 27. |
