Outfest will honor actress Judith Light and Showtime at its annual Legacy Awards next month to benefit the preservation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender films.

The event will culminate with Outfest's Legacy Tribute, featuring clips from "25 Films That Changed Our Lives."

Actress and comedian Caroline Rhea will be the host.

David Duchovny ("Californication") and Marlee Matlin ("The L Word") will present an award to Robert Greenblatt, president of entertainment at Showtime.

The Outfest Legacy Project was launched in 2005. It has amassed the largest collection of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender films in the world; collected dozens of film prints; and created tools to educate filmmakers and the public on film preservation and storage. It is a partnership between Outfest and the UCLA Film and Television Archive.

The first restoration, "Parting Glances," premiered to a sold-out audience at Outfest's silver anniversary in July.

The Legacy Awards will be Oct. 4 at the Directors Guild of America
