Opening the nominations up to fan voting pretty much ensures video expertise will take a back seat to popularity, but still, is the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” really worthy of video of the year and best direction nominations? Granted, a clip that features attractive women dancing in front of fine Hollywood dive bar the Frolic Room isn’t exactly a bad thing, but video of the year?
